Session Description

In its 2010 report “A Call for Agility: The Next-Generation Privacy Professional,” the IAPP opined that a rise in privacy awareness among businesses and institutions, as well as ongoing maturation of roles pertaining to risk management and data security, would create new career paths in the field of privacy. Six years have passed, and the urgent need for privacy professionals continues to grow, especially with changes on the horizon, such as new European regulation and the Internet of Things. The time has come to take a closer look at privacy career paths. How does one develop a career in privacy? This panel brings fresh perspectives from “newly minted” privacy professionals with a wide array of experience across different sectors. How can CIPP certifications be leveraged? What skills are necessary to make a successful entry or transition into a privacy role? What are the primary entry points to a career in privacy?
